I am working on a project that serves 45+ residential homes. It has a short forcemain (125+ feet). They have experienced problems with their existing solids handling pumps with rags and clogging. We looked at both the Vaughan Chopper pumps and the Flygt N-impeller. Overall, the references for the Flygt pumps were good, but the Vaughan references loved their pumps. Both pump options we looked at have a capacity of about 175 gpm. The required capacity for the pump station is only 65 gpm but these are the pumps we found to fit the system curve (based on only looking at these two manufacturers) Based on the references we are recommending the chopper pumps. I am trying to come up with more substantial justification for recommending the chopper pumps. Any thoughts?
