GROUND CONDUCTOR 3

hi..
we have 400A,480v exisitng MCC and we are going to install new MCC in different building and in new location we have grounding available.Distance between two location is 350ft.

My question is should i have to run ground conductor from existing MCC to new MCC ? is it require by CODE??
I am in USA.

I would appreciate if somebody give answer..

Yes. See NEC 250.32. NEC-2005 and earlier codes allow not installing the ground conductor under some circumstances, but this was eliminated in NEC-2008.

You should definitely run an equipment grounding conductor with the feeder. That is good practice and required by NEC.

See Article 250.32 for specific requirements. There also may be a requirement for a separate ground electrode at the new building depending on the installation. But the EGC is required for new feeders.

A grounding electrode is required at the second building even if you are on the 2005 or earlier code. The only time you are not required to have a grounding electrode at a second building or structure is when that building or structure is fed by a single branch circuit. The conductors to the MCC would be feeder conductors and require a grounding electrode.
