There is always this contention between North american and European standards. One that is of much concern is the use of a grounded wye distribution system in North America where the neutral is brought out vesus the european standarad where only a single point is grounded at the substation and no neutral is brought out. In the North American standard therefore you can connect loads from phase to neutral, while in the European they must be connected phase to phase. This has an impact on the cost of expansion etc, also the protection systems have to be configured differently. Can anayone however put together a full list of the pros and cons of either system.
