Hi Gents,

I am doing design installing a 100 kva 480P- 120/208 V 4W Sec serving a couple distribution panels in the distribution facility. My question is, do I call for a ground driven copper rod for grounding the neutral conductor and also bond to the can? My understanding is that I can run 4 wires to the building and not worry about equipment grounding conductor, since the XFMR is grounded locally at the ground rod.

Am I right?
Thanks,
CE

See if the enclosed figure can help your grounding questions.

You must ground locally. You can not depend on the utility ground.
Check your local code carefully for acceptable grounding methods.
Do not confuse safety bonding with system grounding. The rules and acceptable practice are different.
