I have been trying to find a good electrically conductive grease for our copper to copper bus bar and power connectors. I'm just wondering what other electrically conductive lubricants are available that are for use in electrical bonding. Most of our bus bars are tinned at the connection points, but not all. Our power connectors are rarely tinned.

I have heard of the following products being used:

NOOXID - Appears to be an old industry standard. I have used this in the past, but I'm sure there is probably something better.

Thomas and Betts KopR-Shield - It is not specified that this can be used as a connection grease for copper, but it is specified for use for RMC and RGS condiut threads.

Alcoa EJC #2 - Appears to be used for Aluminum, but is it also good for copper?

Factran grease - Some airswitch manufacturers use this.

Shell Aeroshell #7 - This doesn't appear to be a connecction grease but I've heard of it being used.

Are there any other products out there that are used that would be available?

Thanks in advance.

Footnote, NO-OX-ID is still our prefered grease for your application.

Thanks, Zog! I'll do a little research on the sites given. I had seen some other greases used by other utilities (often it was green) that were a bit easier to work with in the cold weather. We've been having trouble with No-OX-ID being as hard as concrete when we try to use it in the winter months. The safety people would flip out if they heard about the ways we heat it up to make it easier to use.

Be careful with Penetrox it is labeled "Not for use with wire that has rubber or polyethylene "

Nye Lubricants is now the manufacturer of the Anderol 757

Nye has a grease for electical sliding connectors with a copper passivator - 362CP

Nye has many options & I know of a couple being used in this type of applicaiton - Rheolube 363, Rheolube 375

Something I would like clarification on. I believe these greases would not be electrically conductive themselves. If they were, they could easily cause short circuits. They simply protect metal surfaces from oxidation and corrosion, and galling without interfering with metal to metal contact.

We use Mobil 28 for our larger connectors. Never a problem in colder weather. It is not a conducting grease.
