Buddy is installing a 60 amp lighting panel ( load centre ) on a tug boat. 2 questions:
1 - He asked me how to ground everything, since the frame of the boat is used as ground for 24 volt DC in some cases. I said that on the tugs that I have worked on, 120V receptacles are mounted on the structural steel, and they are grounded....so there should not be any concern.
( Pls correct me if I am wrong in assuming this ).
2 - Is a automatic transfer switch required ? I said no, as normally this is done by hand, with instructions as to do the change over. I said there are also some load centres with interlocking breakers, whereby if power is fed from shore power, then the generator breaker is off....basically only one breaker can be on at a time.
Any feedback would be appreciated as always!
