Grout Specification

Hi all,
I'm looking for grout specification for soil nail. My main concern is shrinkage. I checked a few FHWA specs but there is no specification on the grout.

I'd specify a non-shrinking grout - use an expanding admixture - Sika would be able to help you choose the right one (Intraplast N, say). Also you could look up soil nail grout on the net and get several specifications used by the unified military command and others - they would spec out the grout to use. FHWA has a big manual on soil nails - they also would be able to give you what you need.

Generally, soil nail grout is Type I, II, or III neat portland cement grout with a W/C ratio of 0.5, about 5.5 gallons of water per 94# bag of cement. I don't know anyone who uses non-shrink grout for any type of ground anchors. Some of my clients may at times want to use FX-32 admixture for improved strength and pumping.
