Grouting of rebar

Interested in finding out more about using adhesives to grout rebar into bottom surface of concrete (overhead).....

Most of the major bolt manufacturers ie Hilti, ITW Spit, Liebig, Rawlbolt etc (and many others common to the US) produce chemical type anchors. They come in several forms, for example, some are 2-part resins mixed on site and gun injected into a pre-drilled hole, others are 2 part chemicals held in a glass phial which you insert into the hole. You then break the phial as you inser the rebar, you spin the rebar with a drill (with special attachment) to mix the resin components. Similar systems are available in pre-packed 'sausage' form which work similarly to the phial. These 3 basic types are all suitable for overhead type work as the resins are thixotropic and don't run out of the hole under gravity. Most of these types of resin grouts will give around 1 tonne per inch pull out resistance (depending to some degree on the rebar diameter). Your best bet is to phone one of these companies and speak to their technical dept who can give precise design figures.<br>
