I'm trying to design GSM/DCS patch antenna. I would like some help? I use Sonnet for simulation.

My configuration is:
FR4 PCB , thinkness 1.6 mm
Available area about 30 X 10 mm
Could you give me advice to design a small patch antenna ?
thanks in advance

Have you tried Google yet? What were the results? What specific questions do you have?

Seems to be a lot of patch antenna questions on the board lately... I wonder if it's senior class final design time at universities...

Thanks Macgyvers but I already check on internet without success it's the reason why I ask some help!
Could you help me ?
Thank you

I'm looking for a simple bi-band GSM antenna (900/1800 Mhz) build with a printed circuit.

Does anybody have a shematic or a design sample ?

Thanks in advance.

You need to ask specific questions before anyone can help. There is plenty of great info out there on how to design patch antennas when you know the design parameters (board thickness, frequency of interest, etc.)... a Google search turns up many thousands of pages of useful info.

What bandwidths and polarizations?
I'd suggest a double stacked patch.
The IEEE is the place to get all the info you need.
If you are a member, you can buy their two DVD set which has 100+ patch designs in it.

Thank you for IEEE information.
I have a small place available (30 X 12 mm) and the total PCB size is 55 X 35 mm. I have no constraint regarding SAR.
My antenna must cover GSM/DCS bands (880 to 960 MHz & 1710 to 1880). My substrat is a FR4 PCB.

Do you have a SONNET exemple ?

Thank you
Best regards

Phil,
sounds like you need HFSS or IE3D or Microwave Studio for this design.
The bandwidths chosen are large and hence this is a difficult patch design, not a simple one as you request. You are pushing the edge of patch design with 8-10% bandwidths spaced 2:1 in frequency.

I just perused my IEEE patch design articles and saw nothing of what you need. There are alot of dual frequency designs with 2-5% bandwidths each though.

If you research available antennas and can find a patch covering those two bandwidths then you'll have hope. Otherwise, you've chosen a very difficult requirement for a patch and a very easy requirement for a notch antenna.

You may want to shift your thinking before you burn alot of design money.

Most dual-band GSM/DCS antennas are custom to the application. However, Tyco RangeStar does make PCB antennas for this application in the size you've indicated. If you volume is low, this might be the answer rather than simulate and design your own.
