Hi,

We are replacing GSU transformers. The new ones are taller than existing. I am wondering if anybody is aware of issues related to GSU tansformers clearances to the HV line.
The new transformers contain also more gallons of oil. I am wondering if anybody is aware of issues related to the oil containment curb.

Thanks,

Yigo.

If you're in the US, you need to follow the NESC requirements for clearances. The new 2007 version is just out. The clearance depends on the voltage.

Oil containment is generally sized to contain the entire volume of oil for the largest transformer in the yard. But this is not a Code issue in the US. You generally don't even have to have oil containment - just have a plan (and money) to deal with the consequences of a spill.
