I am looking for some help on developing a process for creating the input file for GT STRUDL from a SolidWorks 3-D model using curves.

I realize that GT STRUDL can read a DXF file, but this is not practical from a 3-D model as DXF can only be generated by the drawing (2-D) mode of SolidWorks.

Apparently there is also a STEP format but this file is called CIS/2 within GT STRUDL and has a different format than SW exports [AP203 and AP214]).

Any suggestions are welcome. Thanks!

Best regards,

Matthew Ian Loew

I'm not familiar with solidworks, but I have used Excel as a preprocessor to create GTStrudl models. If you are familiar with the command interface, you can create joints and members and run an analysis.

If you are a license holder of GTS, you can contact the CASE center for a better idea.
