4. Link from GT STRUDL to CADS RC PadBase Designer and CADS
RC PileCap Designer
To make use of the design packages CADS RC PadBase Designer (RCPBD)
and CADS RC PileCap Designer (RCPCD), a link to the GTSTRUDL (GTS)
analysis package has been developed. This automatically takes all the
necessary information from the GTSTRUDL Data Base Exchange files (DBX
files). Information that is not part of the analysis (e.g. Concrete grade) can be
entered directly in the design program. The program reads results at a group
of supports and checks whether the columns that are connected have the
same cross sectional properties. It also combines support results of all the
supports that are selected and gives a single padbase or pilecap design that
works for all the supports. Please refer to the respective user guides for
information on the full functionality of either CADS RCPBD or CADS RCPCD.
4.1. Generating the DBX files from GT STRUDL
The data that is present in GTS can be written out as Data Base Exchange
files. The files that are needed to import support results into the design
package are:
Joint Attributes file,
Member Attributes file,
Member properties file and
Joint results file of the support joints.
The following is an example of the GTS input commands required to
generate files that are necessary for importing into RCPBD or RCPCD.

The following points should be taken into consideration when creating the
DBX files:
1. Default names of the files for Joint Attributes (STDBX02), Member
Attributes (STDBX20) and Member Properties (STDBX22) are used,
so different GTS jobs should be placed in different directories.
2. To obtain a single design for a group of supports, joint results of all
the supports in that group should be in a single file. In the above
