Is the design pressure p in British standard BS 5500:1994 in gauge pressure or absolute pressure??

From the equation e = pDi/(2f-p)

A bit silly but want to make sure that............

If your are referring to a standard for pressure vessels, etc. the pressure is surely gauge or differential pressure and not absolute pressure.
