A vertical 900 KW, 600 RPM cage motor which drives a directly coupled cooling water pump below. The weight of the rotor assembly is about 2.4 tons.
The guide bearing area diameter on the shaft is about 309 mm at both top (ODE) and bottom (DE).
What is the recommended diametrical oil clearance for the guide bearing of this motor?
I normally follow the thumb rule of 1/1000th of the diameter = diametrical clearance for guide bearings. So, in this case it works out to 0.31 mm diametrical clearance. Is it correct?
