Gulf Oil Spill - Methane

The second one is at least feasible. The planet has evolved microbes to live on methane in water since there are literally millons of seeps in the ocean (to say nothing of the vast fields of hydrates in the deep water). These things get out of balance and a microbe population explosion can deplete oxygen in the water for weeks or months. When the gas is gone, the excess microbes will die off.

The Tsunami article read as a full helping of fruits and nuts.

I'll second the second one too. If TAMU is doing research in the Gulf, you should believe it until its fully discredited by at least 3 other universities, not the other way around.

If you have an asbestos suit and a thick skin, you could have some fun posting the first one on the Oil Drum. But if you have an asbestos suit, you probably ought to get rid of it, legally of course.
