H-Point Information Sources 2

Hi All,

I'm 15 years in the automotive industry but new to automotive interiors... specifically seat systems. I would like to find some sources on the net to learn as much as possible about H Point. What it is, how it is calculated, etc?

Anyone able to point me in the right direction?

I recommend you look at the resources listed in the FAQ Specifications & Regulations regarding seat belts (faq87-831) to get started. I also highly recommend the Jack Occupant Packaging Toolkit from UGS PLM Solutions for analysis.

Jagndeke,

Froma legislation point of view there are a number of standards that you should investigate - among them are

ECE R14
ECE R16

FMVSS 208
FMVSS 209

Depending on what side of the atlantic you are designing cars and trim for !!! These standards reference others which specifically detail machines for measuring the H point etc on completed vehicles also.

Some components such as seat foams can affect the H point position from compression - typical values range from 5-20 mm lower that what you are expecting. However ,the general rules for these tends to be locked in the individual companies knowledge base rather than any public domain source.
