Hello Piers,

We are designing an Odor control system for a lift station, volume is roughly 1,125 m3.
The sanitary sewage will have anaerobic condition for 5 days in LS. The normal design practice for OC is min 10 ppmv H2S in feed to the Activated carbon absorber.

Can anyone highlight will there be a surge in H2S concentration due to anaerobic condition, say for 5 days or more
If yes what will be the concentration or how this can be estimated

Thanks

Yes , i think you might get considerable H2S after sitting for 5 days.
However the concentration is difficult to estimate because the H2S concentration depends on many variables including temperature, sewerage strength, redox potentials, sulphate concentration and the presence and concentration of certain types of bacteria.
