I have seen people wearing the H2S monitors on the safety helmet, near the collar or clipped to the shirt pocket.

Can anyone let me know is it safe to wear the H2S monitor on the safety helmet. Please advise if OSHA has any requirement.

Thank you

I'd prefer to wear it on a 15 ft pole held horizontally way out in front of me with my hands.

We have a plant policy that requires that the monitors are worn "in the breathing zone." I can't seem to find an exact definition. But, I have heard it said that this means within 12 inches of our mouth and nose. With that definition, the brim of your hard-hat would qualify. However, our safety engineers warn not to clip them to your hat just because this strains a clip that is designed to grab to cloth. Eventually the clip will fail and the monitor will be lost. I am not aware of an OSHA mandate. As far as I know, the use of personal H2S monitors in an oil refinery is still optional at the discretion of the refinery safety programs. Someone please correct me if I am wrong.

I work out in the oil fields and most the people there wear them on their hard hats. The H2S monitor gives an audio alarm, with the all the noise at some sites having the monitor near your ear can "help" picking up the alarm.
FYI ...I've been wearing mine that way for about 5+ yr.s now, I've been through a number of monitors, but none because the clip failed.
