H46 3003 aluminum? 1

hey guys I have a request for H46 3003 aluminum and I can't seem to find any information on it anywhere. can anyone point me in the right direction? it is strain hardened correct? i found Hxx (other numbers) but no H46.

so is this a non US classification? whats the equivalant US spec, cause i've been calling a couple of vendors and they have no idea what H46 was... "never heard of it" is the exact quote.

seems H46 is "strain-hardened and which are subjected to some thermal operation during the subsequent painting or lacquering operation. "

the spec asked for H46, zinc chromated both sides.

so is this the same as asking for another equivalent Hxx with Zinc chromated on both sides?

In answer to your first question, it would appear to be. Also read below, an excerpt from ASM Handbook, Volume 2 on

Foreign Temper Designations
Unlike the agreement relating to wrought alloy designations, there is no Declaration of Accord for an international system of tempers to be registered with the Aluminum Association by foreign organizations. For the most part, the ANSI system is used, but because there is no international accord, reference to ANSI H35.1 properties and characteristics of aluminum alloy tempers registered with the Aluminum Association under ANSI 35.1 may not always reflect actual properties and characteristics associated with the particular alloy temper. In addition, temper designations may be created which are not registered with the Aluminum Association.

I would go back and discuss other aluminum alloy options or tempers for this application.
