I've seen in previous discussions, that in order to support a 4" brick veneer over an opening, some suggest a steel angle with support hanging from the roof beams. In the answers I read, I didn't quite follow how to detail this support.

I come from several years of residential design and I'm just now getting into commercial design. The opening in question is 12'6" along a monoslope gable wall with 11' brick at low end and 13'6" brick at high end. I'm assuming arch action so that the peak brick load would be 7' max in the center of the opening.

In residential design we used to design an I-beam with steel plate welded to bottom that extended out to support the brick.

Thanks for you help!
