I have sectioned through a tube that has a small tube welded inside it as a plain bearing housing. As this is a single part it is modeled as a part eventhough it is manufactured as a weldment.

To show that it is two parts I have drawn lines in the section view. I have also drawn a small triangle that shows where the weld will be.

The trouble I am having is that I cannot hatch the trialgle on the section view. I can select it as a boundary but it wont hatch.

Please help.

If you click on "area hatch" and then click (under) "Area to hatch" - "Boundary" - Then pick the boundary of the triangle and select your hatch above.

I'm doing this at the drawing level.

This works only on a hatch pattern, and even then only on one triangle. As soon as I select solid the hatch is no longer displayed.

The next problem is that I cannot select both triangles.

When I draw them outside the drawing view it all works, drag them into the view and it disappears.

Are you sure the ends of your triangle segments all connect?

Also you may want to see if your video card is supported on the Solidworks site.

If it isn't you may have to upgrade your card. I had a similar experience in a early version of solidworks. The problem was the video card.
