We are treating chlorinated compounds through an electric cat ox. The heating chamber raised the temp to 800-900F and is manufactured from 304. about 2' downstream the material changes to AL6XN and temp up to 1000F. HCL is generated as the gas passes through the cats and the AL6XN is impervious. I am interested to know what affect lower concentrations of acid gas at 800-900F might have on the 304. After 1 month of operation, the heater was removed and some minor oxidation is apparant, but no pitting.
