We are machining a DOHC head out of an aluminum billet. Any suggestions as to what type of aluminum to use?

A billet is a worked solid, and therefore, made from wrought alloys. Heads typically are cast, which requires casting alloys. If you intend to use a wrought alloy billet, perhaps you can use the same material used for forged aluminium pistons - AA 2618. Pistons are designed for similar conditions, therefore the performance should be similar.
