Hello everybody there.
We need to specify the type of detectors that should be used as initiating device for fire protection systems on a hydroelectric power house, we have two cases:
1. The activation of water NFPA 15 deluge systems that protects power transformers located outdoors, the deluge valve is actuated by electric release, controlled by an electronic panel, in general I´ve seen that conventional heat detectors are used as initiating devices, but I don´t really know what type of detectors are recomended for this aplication.
2. A CO2 total flooding system for the generators pits or enclosures, I´ve seen that heat detectors are used but I would like also to know what type of detectors are recomended.
I´ve seen cases where heavy duty weather/Explosion proof heat detectors with dual action (fixed-temp and rate-of-rise) are used and other cases I´ve seen common heavy-duty, moisture proof fixed-temp detectors are used. So I don´t know what type detectors should be used, I don´t want to specify a costly detector if it isn´t really needed.
Also I´d appreciate if somebody can give more details on how to calculate the location and quantity of detectors needed or the temperature rating values for the outdoor transformer detector.
Thanks.
