Hi,

I need to calculate how much of heat is released from a composite material during RTM6 the curing process in autoclave. I have specific heat, density and thermal conductivity of the material.
Can anyone help me how to calculate how much heat is released from that material during the process as i need to give it as input to my fluent file

Thanks

None of those properties will help, you have to look for the reaction (or curing) enthalpy, also referred to as the exotherm. A typical value for epoxy would be approximately 300 J/g, but it will depend on the specific material. The material supplier will be able to provide this value.

Hi,

I have a curing reaction for RTM6 material, but how to find out the heat release rate?

Thank you

A Differential Scanning Calorimetry test of the material can provide the released enthalpy at specific temperature ramp rates.
