Heat source location in relation to chimney

Hi,

I am designing a unit that has to be cooled by heat convection (I cannot have any fans) where is the best place to put the heat source in relation to the chimney? Top, middle or bottom?

So, if you put the "unit" (How big? How heavy? How will you maintain it at the top of a chimney? How will you support it and replace it and install it up at the top of a chimney? ) up at the top of a chimney .... Exactly what do you think is the driving force for the cooling air (??) to be "forced" past/through/around the "unit" and out the chimney?

Now, for the problem on this assignment, tell me how a natural draft chimney works.

And why no fans? Even a solar-powered ventilator is probably going to do a better job.

Chimneys are very effective at creating drafts without fans. The heat source must be at the bottom. It works due to the density difference of air in the chimney versus outside the chimney.
