Heat Transfer Equation - Evaporation and Radiation

Hi,

I'm trying to do an energy balance on a process. I'm using water to cool a heated object (~1000C). Once the water contacts the surface steam is produced. This steam passes through the object and cools it. Is there an equation for this type of evaporation?

In the old days this type of device was called a "boiler".

The heat transfer during the evaporation process is calculated according to the type of boiling which occurs. See for example the boiling heat transfer correlations presented in S. Kakac "Boilers, evaporators and condenser" , 1991 , John Wiley + sons, section 7.2.5 DNB, and dryout correlations by Doroshchuck,KonKov, Keifer, Kohler, and Hein.

After dry steam is produced standard single phase heat transfer correlations can be used.
