Hello members,

At the moment i want to jacket a 1.5 inches pipe containing water with low pressure steam. Which U (heat trans coeficient) could i use to know which will be the exit temperature of the water at the end of the jacketed pipe?

Thanks.

Assuming both streams are non-fouling, and the water is just heated, not boiling, flowing at more than 1 m/s, and the LP steam is condensing, a ballpark estimate for the OHTC (U) would be
1.2 kW/(m2xoC)
