Hi, I am looking at having some custom studs made from EN24 and have been advised by someone who is very well respected in this area to have them heat treated to "V" standard.

Can somone please explain to me how that standard is defined and where it fits in on the scale and amongst other standards? I am pretty new to this area (obviously!) and would greatly appreciate the help.

Regards,
TC

Thanks- very helpful link for me. Is the only difference between the different grades the temperature at which it is tempered? Also would they be tempered in air or an inert gas?

Yes the difference is the tempering temperature. Tempering can be performed in either air, protective, or inert atmospheres.
