Carbon steel heater tubes for a wood drying kiln are experiencing selective corrosion/erosion at the 12 o'clock position from the steam side (bore). The tubes have aluminium fins.
The steam is supplied from a boiler using correct chemical treatment (supposedly) and is at a temperature of 180C and 1300kPa.
All water test results look OK apart from condensate pH being down to 5.7 on occasions. The water chemistry is checked monthly.
