Has anyone a copy of the log log graph used to display the relatioship of Heavy Fuel Oil Viscosity with temperature as a straight line. I would like to download an electronic copy

Mike,
Cranes "Flow of Fluids" has a blank viscosity chart for SUS (kinematic viscosity). I can also email you a copy of ASTM D341, which has some formulas for the charts. There's also a blending calculation and some history of the charts.

Send an E-mail to

gmucs@netzero.com

and I'll forward a PDF of ASTM D341.

Besides the ASTM chart mentioned above you can look for the BP viscosity/temperature chart based on log log(visc +0.8), as function of log T, where visc is in cS, and T is absolute temperature (the chart also gives oC and oF scales).

Same chart offers blending possibilities by w%, as well as various viscosity scales: Saybolt Furol seconds, Saybolt Universal seconds, Engler degrees, Redwood 1 seconds, and, of course, kinematic viscosity in centistokes.

Go to and follow the Bunker Fuels link. You will find one of the downloads is a spreadsheet for calculating viscosity at any temp based on the ASTM D341 equation. Also calculated is the Ignition index (BS MA 100).
The scales on the chart are linear but you can convert to log scale simply by clicking on the vertical axis and selecting log.
