Hi,

Is it possible to create a helix following a profile like the one in the picture below?

The profile would be the Sketch.1 (2 lines connected by a bitangent arc)

Thank you
P.S. My goal is to show the deformation/bending of a spring due to weight of its load (TUBE).
The red curves in the last picture shows the direction of deformation(bending).

Let me find another way to address this thread:
- How could I create a helix like feature, following a curve (other than a line, a spline for instance…..)?

CAD 2015

yes, it is possible. rather than helix function, use sweep with reference surface, and use a law to define your angular dependency. Since one revolution is 360deg, specifying the angle from 0 to 3600 will yield 10 turns. A sweep as such can use any input for a guide...

LWolf,

What elements (curves) would build the "Helix" like profile in sweep with reference surface?
Can you send me a simply CAFPart replica, please? (I do not know how to start this)...…..

Thanks,
