Hello All - Working to API 1104 20th. edition, does welding X52 to Gr. B material require a qualified procedure for X 52 only, or do we need qualified procedures for X52 and Gr. B? We would them weld following the X52 procedure. Please advist. Thanks

I would try the welding forum, hidden under structural engineering heading.

Depends on the definition of the grades and what is allowed under the code, but the conservative answer is do an X52 TO grade B procedure, test it and then use it. The last sentence doesn't make sense to me. Why would you qualify a procedure specific to your requirements and then say you're going to use a different one?
