Hello everyone. Hope you're doing well today!

May I kindly ask if we can operate a reciprocating compressor without its non-slam check valve on its discharge line?

another question: is low capacity issue on a recip compressor is only limited to piston ring/liner failure? or is it always accompanied by faulty suction and discharge valves?

we cannot fully conclude failure on discharge and suction valves because we do not observe high discharge temperature. however, interstage pressure becomes higher than normal.

our initial findings that we have right now is a damaged non-slam type check valve on the discharge line.

hoping any help from anyone. Thanks

I'm not really following this question.

Can you describe your compressor more and what your springs are?

Yes you can operate without a check valve if this is extra to the cylinder valves.

What pressure and flow?

Also: If you get a response it's polite to respond to it.

A check valve on the discharge is often required so that the compressor can be unloaded when it stops, thus enabling it to restart.
