Hello.

I'm a spanish industrial engineer and a new member in this forum.

I'm working in metal foams characterization and simulations.

I want to create a closed multi-cell FE-model for compressive behaviour analysis based on reproducing a unit closed cell. The unit cell is a cube with a spherical hollow filled with air inside.

My QUESTION is: How to represent this air hollow in the FE-model? Note that the hollow is hermetic closed and, when the cell is compressed, the pressure increases in the hollow air. I would like to know what is the most appropiated interaction between this hollow air and interior face of this closed cells.

Thank you very much and sorry by my poor english.

You should check this chapter:
ABAQUS Analysis User's Manual (v6.6) -> 11.5.1 Modeling fluid-filled cavities

Thak you very much.

I'll check this chapter and I'll tell you what's the solution I'choiced.

I was able to create the model with the cavity pressure, but the pressure effect is so small (less than 0.03%) that I've decided no to implement the pressure in my next models.
