The basic principal is that you slow the cutting process in a corner.
When cutting faster, the cut sweeps back from the top to the bottom of the plate.
When you cut fast around a corner, the 'sweep' can't follow, and you get a mess.
The parameters determine:
- what angle of a corner to slow down for
- how far away from the corner to slow down
- what speed and power settings to use when going slow
- (maybe) how far away from the corner to speed up.

(I think Amada still has application groups in the US, no idea about other parts of the world)
