Hello all,

I've got a problem that I just can't seem to fix. I created an assembly model, and then a drawing of that with temporary name. When completed and happy with it, I renamed the model and drawing through Pro/Intralink.

Now the drawing, assembly model and BOM are all reading as correct. When I go to check it in the assembly and components will check-in with no issues. However, when checking the drawing in, it trys to take a component with it that in not in the assembly model or BOM, its a completely random comp.....How can I find out whats causing this to happen and how to fix it??

Thanks,
Lee

Do you have any views that are not visable in the drawing that may contain this part? Is this part a loaded model in this drawing? This model could be suppressed in a subassembly. Those are just some things that come to mind while I'm sipping on my coffee.

Hi Heckler. Thanks for your interest - hope the coffee's working!

I've tried all these "routine" checks if you'd like to call it that. In the end I re-created the drawing from the assembly, and had no problems. IT was really weird though.

All the BOM reports and graphs, and where-used options were showing no relationship to anything. The only place where I got a link was in the "Modify Relationships" option under the "Object" menu item of intralink. This showed that there was a link to the rogue part with the drawing, but not with the assembly......

I've been told that I should not use "rename" by some of my collegues at another site, as they have had this problem. Something about MetaData being unintentionally linked.....all above me! They recommended using "Duplicate Objects" rather than rename - this is what they do now, and have no problems.......this is all extra work though....

If you fancy further investigations then feel free.....

Hmmmm, I've never had any problems with RENAME but then again I'm using Pro/e 2001 standalone wo/IL.

Sometimes you may have a reference to an Interchange Group, this is common in Intralink.

Another way is to erase all items in session, open the drawing only, and see if that part is actually in session. If so, trace it back from there.
