We have an automotive fuel system part we need to machine that will be subject to 99% Methanol. We are open to nearly any metal as long as it has a high level of machinability and is not an exotic (expensive) material. We have considered 300 series stainless and a few Brasses. The OEM part we are replacing is brass but known for corroding over time.
Can someone point us in the right direction for a material selection that will machine nice, is relatively inexpensive, and will perform well in Methanol? We do not need 100% corrosion resistance but an improvement over the OE parts is a must.
