Help Introducing Latent Heat Data ABAQUS

Hi,I have some doubts introducing the latent heat data. I'm trying to introduce the latent decomposition heat of a fiber/epoxy that is assumed to be 4.8x10^3 kJ/kg and is released between 300 ºC and 500 ºC. A linear rate of decomposition is assumed in the decomposition temperature range. And a latent sublimination heat which is released at 3316 ºC and is assumed to be 43x10^3 kJ/kg.

What I have to introduce in the solidus and liquidus temperature gaps?

I am not familiar with latent heat in CFRP. Have seen something for steel (when melting), but not sure how accurate and representative that is.

If Cp is the standard thermal capacitance, and Tl is the liquidus and Ts the solidus temperatures for steel, L the latent heat of fusion (say in kJ/kg), then the modified thermal capacitance Cp' in that temp. range (Ti to Ts) is Cp'=Cp+L/(Tl-Ts).

Not sure if that helps though, and if it does I would tripple check it is valid for CFRP, but that is the best I can do since I do not know this for CFRP. Best of luck

Thanks for that Mustaine3. This looks very useful here. As some structural FE-packages do not have this, a possible way around it is to define it in the thermal capacitance vs Temp curve.
