help-Masters in Oil nd gas/petroleum after B.E MECHANICAL(no technical work ex)

Hi,

I am interested in a career in the upstream oil industry.

Completed mechanical engineering ( little sales experience post engineering)

Planning to enrol in Masters Petroleum.

Considering my nonexistent technical experience after graduation, would a masters petroleum degree help me in entering the industry?

Experts please guide.

It depends. If you want to be a reservoir engineer then some companies value the Masters, most don't. If you want to go into one of the few remaining research centers, then there is value placed on a Masters. If you just want to be a Operations Engineer then you are way better off entering the industry with a BSME into an intern or "challenger" program and go through their specific training. Most people working as Operations Engineer do not have a PetEng degree.
