Please help me in this question
I have a pair of gear and the splined shaft. I would like to Motion simulation this assembly by Cosmosmotion then export the data to CosmosWork for FEA purpose (Solidwork 2007).
But my problem is: I don't know which mates (coincident, parallel of concentric) are suitable for joint between splined shaft and gear (the gear hub is spined)
Thank for your help

You need two mates, a concentric and then an angular constraint of some type, such as a parallel mate between a plane on the shaft and one on the gear, such as a face of the spline in each case. I'm assuming the gear is free to slide along the spline.

Your FEA will not understand this, I suspect.

In C/Motion, you can use a concentric mate, then modify it to include constraint on angular and/or axial motion. If you constrain angular motion and leave axial free, you will have a spline mate that is locked in rotation but can slide axially.

Not sure how well this would transfer to C/Works.
