Hi,
I have to model a lap joint joined together with resin of thickness 2mm in one model and a resin thickness of 0.3mm in another model. Here resin is considered as the cohesive zone. In the tensile test experiment the joint with resin thickness of 0.3 mm is showing much less stresses in the cohesive zone than the lap joint with resin of 2mm thickness. Whereas in abaqus when I modeled using the cohesive elements (COH3D8) the case is reversed. Can anyone please suggest a method to model the joints with resin where I can get a similar result as the experiment
and also what is the difference between a normal 3D abaqus element and a cohesive element(COH3D8)
Thanks in advance
