Hello,
I have a problem in a cable drum for a mine shaft. This drum is smooth, so it has no lebus grooving for the cable to set, and also has 3 layers of cable, and it always works on the 2nd and 3rd layer, so I do not know if installing a lebus grooving would help.
The problem is that the cable will not spool correctly on the 2nd layer. They told me to weld a plate or lifter for the 2nd layer to spool properly or weld a tapered starter on the drum for the first.
Does anyone have any experience with this problem and a solution? The expensive solution would be to buy and install a lebus groove and a fleet angle winder, but I would also like to explore your experience with welding or bolting starter, risers and filler plates
Regards,
JM
