Help on linking word/Excel to AutoCad

I am wanting to learn more about the "Paste Special" I use to link an excel sheet to AutoCad - I use it for BOM and it works great updating but sometimes when I add a row in excel it does not always show up in AutoCAD- and how do you link a Word doc to AutoCad? Any Help is greatly appreciated- MH(Material Handling)Designer
