Help on material selection

Hello all,

I am look for a kind of plastics material that is strong, hard, and light. Garolite G10/FR4 is strong and hard but a bit heavier for my project. I appreicate if someone would like to recommend me a kind of plastics that is stong, hard, but lighter. Thanks in advance.

Designating a plastic takes a little more than strong, hard and light.
What will be its continuous use temperature? Will it be in sunlight? How strong do you need it? Is there impact or electrical conditions? What is the expected longevity of the part?

How are you going to make this part? machining, injection molding? You may get what you think is a good material but then it could utterly fail due to other factors you did not consider for the application. Can this part be made from thermoset or thermoplastic?

While I agree 229955 original post is a trifle vague, it would be not unreasonable to assume that his intend material etc. would be similar in associated properties to this Garolite
