I have only lately begun to use Adams car. It contains a simulation named Roll & Vertical Force/Length that is under suspension analysis. After reading the documentation (A roll and vertical force analysis sweeps the roll angle while holding the total vertical force constant. The total vertical force is the sum of the vertical forces on the left and right wheels. You can specify the total vertical force used by the left and right actuators to move the wheels). I was unable to understand the physical significance of this analysis as compared to opposite and parallel wheel travel.

Your jounce bumpers, rebound bumpers, and non linear spring motion ratio combine to give different results for the two tests. With rolld the body remains static as the contact patches move up and down by equal amounts, but the change in force is not equal. In rollf the change in force is equal, but the body may rise or fall. This more similar to what happens in the car on the road.

Get a car on a K&C machine and you should immediately get the ideas behind the methodology. After all, you are trying to simulate a K&C test. Yes or No ?
