We need to provide a refrigeration system for a vacuum line cold trap. The cold trap condenses and freezes water vapor extracted from a transformer being dried under vacuum. The trap is periodically defrosted and the water measured to determine an extraction rate. The rate is used to
determine when the transformer is dry.
The trap heat load will range between 500-6000 BTU/HR. The trap heat exchanger consists of 20 SS coils 14"OD in series. The coil surface temp needs to be -35°F.
The system must be able to accommodate the intermittent load.
The condensing system needs to be air cooled sized for 100°F.
The circuit must be able to accommodate hot gas defrosting.
We would like to use a standard condenser package if possible.
We need help with the circuit design as well and component selection.
Any input would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance for your time.
