I continue to learn more about this room and am looking for some advice/direction.

The entire room is framed out of 2x8s. Rafters spaced 24" O.C. with a ridge beam that is two 2x12 LVLs.
THEN, the Contractor installed an 8x12" aged pine beam, supported in the end wall framing, beneath the 2x10 LVLs. They also installed 8x8 rafter beams 4' O.C., by bolting them to bocking between the studs and top plates

None of this was initially known, as the room framing was enclosed.
The room is 16'x25'. Room height is 14' to top plate, fwiw.

The two concerns were the hinge condition of the end walls, and the lack of lateral support with the size of ridge beam they had. Does the 2x8 framing change your mind about these two issues?

I know most of you said to walk away from this, but I'm attempting to come up with a fix for the issue and for a friend who is the new contractor for this home (old contractor walked away after initially framing this room/completing a portion of the home and then not paying subs).

If you could make a 3D sketch labeling hhese beams and rafters, it would help a lot.
I can't read the text then scroll down to multiple images trying to find out where the pieces are.

Comment/Question 1 - 2x10 or 2x12 on the LVLs? Also, LVLs are typically identified by true dimensions, not nominal. So when you say 2x10, do you mean 1.75"x9.25"? If '2x12' is correct, do you mean 1.75"x11.25", or the more common 1.75"x11.875"?

Question 2 - why would 2x8s change anything? are you referring to the rafters, or the wall studs? in neither case can I see where it would make a difference, for what that's worth. the questions weren't a matter of strength or stiffness but of stability.
 
The only place I potentially see the 2x8 helping is, if there's no splices in the at the 14 foot height, it may calculate out as a wind beam and therefore some of our concerns go away.

To me, the pine beam and rafters are an architectural finish applied to the underside of the actual structural roof. I would ignore them in any strength calculations.

If the existing ridge beam, 2 ply LVL, doesn't work for the loads, then you're pretty well stuck upgrading that beam.

I have, on other occasions, provided horizontal plywood box beams to deal with the rafter thrust that span between regularly spaced tension ties. Then the ridge beam, just becomes a ridge board. But that's a pretty involved change at this stage, my design was included from the start.
