Help with determining I-beam

Good Afternoon,

I am hoping to get some help with a problem I am having. I am planning on building a tractor garage on our farm. It will be a stick frame built with 2x6’s 18” O.C. for the walls. The walls will be 8’ tall. The roof will be a metal roof, supported by rafters and ceiling joists, and this will also be constructed with 2x6’s 18” O.C. It will be a gable design, with 1 foot of overhang and will probably be a 30* slope. I want to run an i-beam that is 25’ long down the center of the garage without any support posts inside the garage. I would like the beam to support approximately 20 pounds per square foot for potential attic storage. Can you tell me what I-beam I need to buy for this application?

Thank you for your help,

Bob

You are already doing the labor yourself, so that is a big plus. Hire an engineer and be involved with the design process. You tell them what you want to use and how you would like to build it, and they try to make it happen.
