help with grip function &MEMCMP

Does anyone have experience using the grip function &MEMCMP(obj)? I am trying to use it in a grip routine I am developing but I only get a compiler error 'MEMCMP invalid field' error, no matter what object I pass into it. The help file is not so helpful for this particular function.

I found it, the IFERR field is usually optional but for this function it is not.
